Ari came to WRHS with the skills to play varsity as a freshman. As a sophomore, she suffered a torn ACL, which could derail any athlete. Her junior year she tore the other one, but made the quickest recovery we’ve seen and was ready to play as a senior. She fought through those injuries with strength and without complaint. As a senior, Ari proved to be a court leader and tenacious, a spirited competitor with a will to win. Ari lettered all four years and may have received all conference honors if not for the injuries.
Playing the post, Daf spent her time battling against 6 footers throughout her four years. She was a determined worker, pursued every rebound and battled those 6 footers relentlessly. She has a great understanding of the game and used that to her advantage. Teammates are drawn to her for her support and camaraderie. We will miss her as a leader who brought perseverance and teamwork to the program.
Izzie was a four-year varsity player in basketball. While she spent her off seasons focused on softball, her talent and athleticism in basketball made her invaluable to the program. Soft hands and a soft touch made her valuable on the offensive end of the court. At the other end of the court high, tenacious defense and aggressive rebounding were her strengths. Izzie loves the camaraderie created in team sports and teammates always knew she had their back. Her leadership in hustle and drive will be missed.
We felt fortunate to have such a great athlete transfer into the program for her junior and senior seasons. Not only did Monica have great skills, she was a calming influence and leader by example. She makes great decisions on and off the court; a young lady others are drawn to. Her upbeat attitude and fun-loving style make her a pleasure to coach and awesome to be around. We are so proud of her success in sports all year long! Monica will be missed by her coaches and teammates!
